Cultural Events: Rules and Guidelines

Let your creativity and talent speak the language of dance on this electrifying platform of NRYF
2020.
Classical: It includes 8 ranges which are Bharatanatyam, Kathak, Kuchipudi, Odissi, Kathakali, Sattriya, Manipuri and Mohiniyattam.

(i) Solo (ii) Duo/Group
Rules-
● Participants have to bring their own music in a pen drive only.
● Participants should carry their own costumes and props.
● Solo dance performances should not exceed 5 minutes. Group dance performances should
not exceed 10 minutes.
● There can be a maximum of 10 members for group participation.
● The music/songs brought by the participants should not have objectionable, vulgar,
objectifying lyrics.
● Music/songs of the participants should be strictly classical and no other type will be
allowed.
● With every minute exceeding the time limit, 0.5 marks will be deducted thereon.
● The decision of the judges will comply throughout and be final.
● The sequence of the performances will be decided by the organizing committee prior to
the event and will not be subject to change or request made by the participants.
● The organizing committee holds the right to disqualify an individual participant or group
if the above-mentioned rules are not adhered to.

 

Folk: (i) Solo (ii) Duo/Group
Rules
● Participants have to bring their own music in a pen drive only.
● Participants should carry their own costumes and props.
● Solo dance performances should not exceed 6 minutes. Group dance performances should
not exceed 10 minutes.
● There can be a maximum of 15 members for group participation.
● The music/songs brought by the participants should not have objectionable, vulgar,
objectifying lyrics.
● Music/songs of the participants should be strictly Folk and no other type will be allowed.
● With every minute exceeding the time limit, 0.5 marks will be deducted thereon.
● The decision of the judges will comply throughout and be final.
● The sequence of the performances will be decided by the organizing committee prior to
the event and will not be subject to change or request made by the participants.
● The organizing committee holds the right to disqualify an individual participant or group
if the above-mentioned rules are not adhered to.
Western/Bollywood/Semi Classical/Fusion :  (i) Solo (ii) Duo/Group
Rules
● Participants have to bring their own music in a pen drive only.

Note- Participants have to give their songs in Pen Drive. Song should be submitted 6 Hours
before the Performance.

2. Maximum time limit: solo- 4 minutes Duo/Group- 8 minutes
3. Use of offensive language is prohibited.
4. With every minute exceeding the time limit, 0.5 marks will be deducted thereon.
5. The decision of the judges will comply throughout and be final.
6. The sequence of the performances will be decided by the organizing committee prior to the
event and will not be subject to change or request made by the participants.
7. The organizing committee holds the right to disqualify an individual participant or group if
the above mentioned rules are not adhered to.
Folk:

Mono-act (Solo event)
Rules:
1. All participants have to bring their own props; suggested is to keep the use as minimum
as possible.
2. Time limit: Maximum – 9 minutes and Minimum – 7 minutes.
3. The participants have to bring their own audio (if they have an audio to add in their act)
in a pen drive. The organizing committee will arrange the facilities for audio playback.
4. No language barrier, but the participants must give a brief introduction at the start of the play.
( It will not be included in the time limit )
5. With every minute exceeding the time limit, 1 mark will be deducted thereon.
6. The decision of the judges will comply throughout and be final.
7. The sequence of the performances will be decided by the organizing committee prior
to the event and will not be subject to change or request made by the participants.
8. The organizing committee holds the right to disqualify an individual participant or
group if the above mentioned rules are not adhered to.
9. Participants must be careful as to not hurt any religious sentiments, beliefs, practices,
culture of any particular individual, group, community, tribe, or organization.
Nukkad Natak (Group only)
Rules:
1. All participants have to bring their own props; suggested is to keep the use as minimum
as possible.
2. Time limit: Maximum – 30 minutes and Minimum – 15 minutes.
3. The participants have to bring their own audio (if they have an audio to add in their act)
in a pen drive. The organizing committee will arrange the facilities for audio playback.
4. With every minute exceeding the time limit, 0.5 marks will be deducted thereon.
5. The decision of the judges will comply throughout and be final.
6. The sequence of the performances will be decided by the organizing committee prior
to the event and will not be subject to change or request made by the participants.
7. The organizing committee holds the right to disqualify an individual participant or
group if the above mentioned rules are not adhered to.
8. Participants must be careful as to not hurt any religious sentiments, beliefs, practices,
culture of any particular individual, group, community, tribe, or organization
MIME
1- Each team can have maximum of 7 members.
2-All participants are to bring there own props. suggested is to use as
minimum props as possible.
3-The time duration for the mime act is at most 10 minutes
and a minimum of 5 minutes.
4-The participants will get their own audio (if they have an audio to add
to their act) in pen drives. The organizing authorities will arrange the
facilities for audio playback. Audio should not contain any dialogues.
5- The act should not contain any dialogues and lip sync.
6- No act shall contain any offensive, obscene, disrespectful actions or gestures.
7- The verdict of the judges will be final of utmost importance.
Organizing Committee has all the rights to disqualify an individual/group, if
the above mentioned rules are not adhered to.
Stand up comedy
1) Offensive or vulgar language or content is strictly prohibited
2) Maximum time limit: 8 min
3) Open to all genres
4) All participants need to bring their own props (if using them in your act).
5) Participants need to bring their own audio (if they are using it in their act)

Mimicry with story telling
1. Participants have to narrate a story while mimicking any famous personality.
1. All participants have to bring their own props; suggested is to keep the use as minimum as
possible.
2. Time limit: Maximum - 10 minutes and Minimum - 7 minutes.
3. The participants have to bring their own audio ( if they have an audio to add in their act ) in a
pendrive. The organizing committee will arrange the facilities for audio playback.
4. Narration of the story should only be in Marathi, Hindi and English.
5. With every minute exceeding the time limit , 1 mark will be deducted thereon.

RANGOLI
RULES
1. It is a solo event.
2. The materials will be provided at the venue.
3. Vulgarity and obscenity of any form will not be entertained.
4. No ready-made tools are allowed.
5. The size of the Rangoli has to be 3*3 feet.
6. Maximum time limit is 2 hours.
7. You cannot use any references or gadgets to make the design.
8. The decision of the judges will comply throughout and be final.
9. If the time limit is exceeded, the judges hold the right to disqualification.
10. The organizing committee holds the right to change the venue, time and requirement.
11. The medium and form of expression can be freehand, pictorial and/or descriptive.
12. The decision of the organizers of the event shall be final and conclusive.
MEHENDI
RULES
1. It is a solo event.
2. The mehendi will be provided at the venue.
3. Maximum time limit is 1 hour.
4. Participants have to apply mehendi on another person’s hand. Both the palm and the back
of the hand must be covered.
5. The decision of the judges will comply throughout and be final.
6. If the time limit is exceeded, the judges hold the right to disqualification
7. The organizing committee holds the right to change the venue, time and requirement.
8. The decision of the organizers of the event shall be final and conclusive.
SCRAP ART
RULES
1. It is a solo event
2. Participants may only use the materials that are provided to them.
3. The work must be original.
4. Maximum time limit is 2 hours
5. Participants are allowed to exchange their materials with each other.
6. Participants will be judged on their creativity, design, clarity, content and present
elements.
7. Participants are not allowed to bring any structure beforehand, partly or fully made.
8. All art work needs to be prepared within the allotted time.
9. The decision of the judges will comply throughout and be final.
10. If the time limit is exceeded, the judges hold the right to disqualification
11. The organizing committee holds the right to change the venue, time and requirement.
12. The decision of the organizers of the event shall be final and conclusive.
PAINTING
RULES
1. It is a solo event.
2. Participants will be provided with paints and paper at the venue.
3. Paint brushes, pencils, erasers and palettes have to be brought by the participants
themselves.
4. The maximum time limit is 1 and a half hour.
5. The topic will be given on the spot by the organizers.
6. The decision of the judges will comply throughout and be final.
7. If the time limit is exceeded, the judges hold the right to disqualification
8. The organizing committee holds the right to change the venue, time and requirement.
9. The decision of the organizers of the event shall be final and conclusive.
FACE PAINTING
RULES
1. It is a solo event.
2. The painting has to be done on somebody else's face.
3. Participants have to bring their own models to paint on.
4. Paints have to be brought by the participants themselves.
5. Vulgarity and obscenity of any form will not be entertained.
6. Time limit is 1 hour
7. There is no particular theme and the participants are free to use their creativity.
8. The decision of the judges will comply throughout and be final.
9. If the time limit is exceeded, the judges hold the right to disqualification
10. The organizing committee holds the right to change the venue, time and requirement.
11. The decision of the organizers of the event shall be final and conclusive.
